To give a better illustration on “Traffic – the core of affiliate marketing”, we have decided to depict a scenario that might happen to most people in their everyday lives. =)
Scenario
Location : Shopping Malls
Business Owners : Shop Owners
Customers : Shoppers
The Shopping Malls represents the internet and the sites selling products or services are the shops.
You may have experienced that some places of the shopping malls have more people walking through. Shoppers who walk through may stop and take a look at the shops, and some may eventually enter the shops and make a purchase.
Similarly, the shoppers are people using search engines to search for desired products or services. They may eventually click on the results and browse the sites and eventually may make a purchase of the online products or services.
Comparing with the shops with lesser or no shoppers walking through, the chances of shoppers walking in to browse the shop and make purchases is smaller or even none.
Thus, more traffic means more conversions!!
So the crux of having more sales is more traffic for your internet business. =)

You may have the best product/services in the whole world, but with no marketing, means no people will get to know your product or services. This means ZERO TRAFFIC and zero traffic means?

We believe that you must have been to the malls and noticed that some parts of the mall have more people passing by. These are the prime rentals. These shop have higher rents than others, not because they are bigger or have more facilities.

Whenever a customer browses your products, there is always a chance of conversion, comparing with no customers at all.

Let’s start with understanding what Affiliate Marketing means.
Affiliate marketing is a marketing practice in which an affiliate is rewarded by the respective business owners for each successful transaction brought about by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.
The successful transactions are subjective to the business owners. Some requires affiliates for site referral, email forwarding, downloading of e-books, sales of the product, etc.
For each successful transaction, the affiliate gains a commission of its marketing effort. The commission may be small per transaction, for eg. a dollar per transaction. But if you are a good online marketer, you can earn a substantiate amount just by being an affiliate.
Some commission payout is high, (and it usually involves the sales of a product) but it often relates to the difficulty of achieving the transaction.
Having understood what affiliate marketing means, we will depict a few examples in the next few posts to let you better grasp the concept.
